Bassenfell 2007 Holiday

Yet again our annual church Bassenfell holiday was brilliant. not as many people could make it this year, but that didn't mean we were going to have any less of a good time.

The theme for this year was "Hope". A much needed element in the life of any individual, especially in today's world, where there is so much hopelessness and despair.

Prem Joeseph, the assistant Pastor from Champness Hall Family Church, Rochdale, was our guest speaker. He came with his lovely wife Liz and their two children, John-Finney and Rachel. They testified to having a wonderful weekend with us and even performed at our Saturday night show and quiz.

Our traditinal firework display started like a re-enactment of the battle of the Alamo, thanks to John Pearsons pyrotechnical genius. On the Saturday afternoon various activities took place. a family walk, swimming in Keswick, shopping and much more.

The weekend was enjoyed by all and on the Sunday we were all sad to leave. A few people stayed behind as late as they could, then visited the lake at Keswick to enjoy boating and a coffee before returning home.

Bring on next year!

Grapevine '07

What can we say about grapevine 2007? Once again the teaching and preaching was most inspiring. The meetings in the big top were led by some great christian musicians and we could have stayed singing and dancing for hours.

The theme for the bible week was momentum for the church. this provided us with plenty of thought provoking materials and was very inspirational. We need to be a church on the move and gathering pace.

Once again we were joined this year by a number of people from other local churches. Everybody had a great time and enjoyed themselves at the event. Some of our young people have come back really fired up for God, even some of our older members are really buzzin'! Be sure to book your self in for Grapevine 2008 and be inspired, challenged and changed.

Make sure you check out the picture gallery on the "pics" section of the event, click here to go to the pictures page.

Ahh! Fond memories of a great week. Best weather yet, not a single drop of rain. And how can I forget Josh Lowe, The Sundance Kid! He was literally burning for God.

CYPRUS

Longstanding friends Dwight and Ruth have lived in Cyprus for a number of years now. Having retired from work in the UK they sold their small business and moved to live in Cyprus. It wasn’t long before they were sharing their Christian faith with the local folks and after a series of events they began to hold regular church meetings.

We have been supporting their work there for some years now, upholding them in prayer and sending them a financial gift on a monthly basis. They currently have an established leadership team and meet in a small building for prayer, biblical teaching worship and fellowship. This work brings help & hope to a number of underprivileged women and children.

Christmas 2005 we were able to bless the church there with gifts for all the members, and as you can see from the photographs they were very pleased.

Bassenfell '06 - "Power For Living"

This was our second church weekend at Bassenfell Manor and what a great weekend it was. an improvement even on last years event, though that may seem hard to believe!

This year we were joined by John Flanner from Solihull and Phil Jenkins from Bath, who were our main speakers. They brought us teaching and exhortation on the theme "Power For Living", which was basically about the lordship of Christ and our submission to him as Christians. To summarize what they said; knowing our position in Christ is vital to us and will determine how we live, what choices we make, what decisions we take and what examples of living we set for others.

Thanks To Darren & Sue our new Youth Pastors for their great work with our youth over the weekend, by all accounts everybody had a lot of fun and enjoyed learning about discipleship.

Jennie Novotony (Tina Turner) lead the children's sessions based on a super hero theme. along with a lot of cutting, gluing, sticking and painting the children learnt why Jesus Christ is a real super hero! Thanks Jen.

On Saturday afternoon, people enjoyed various activities around the Lake District one of which was a lovely walk going from Ashness Bridge up to High Seat, on the Saturday night we had a superb evening of fun filled family entertainment, lead by our very own master of ceremonies himself, the one and only Mr John Pearson. The night ended in a grand finale of fireworks. Thanks to everybody who took part on the night.

Special thankyou to Marie P and Jenny G For Helping to organise the weekend and thanks everyone for "muckin' in" and making the weekend so memorable, now lets live out what we have learnt from the weekend and build on it!

Here are some of the best pictures, enjoy! (click to enlarge)...
